Recording Artists

These are the artists who have releases on the Go Feet label.

  • The Beat Founders and focal point of the Go Feet label. They were launched into stardom with their hit single on the 2 Tone label, but ended up being the only band on the 2 Tone roster to thrive on the charts beyond its decline.
  • The Congos The Jamaican roots reggae duo whose classic album (recorded by the legendary Lee Perry) was given an opportunity to reach later generations by a reissue on Go Feet. Many more would follow.
  • Cedric Myton and the Congos After The Congos trio split, Cedric Myton continued on as the frontman of his own band.
  • The Mood Elevators Female-fronted pop/rock that rose through the UK independent music scene where they eventually had the luck of crossing paths with The Beat.
  • Pato & Roger A collaboration of Pato Banton and Ranking Roger that started on Go Feet and would continue be revisited well beyond The Beat's demise.

Potential Artists

These are other artists who pursued a place on the Go Feet label but, for one reason or another, never made it on the lineup.

  • Wham!
    Wham!
That's right. According to Dave Wakeling, Wham! (a hugely successful '80s pop duo consisting of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley) had in their early days submitted a demo to the Beat. Interestingly the demo had a cover of "Can't Get Used To Losing You" before the Beat had released a recording of it. Dave, however, tells that he was completely unaware of the demo until some time much later. Michael and Ridgely began performing together in a ska band by the name of The Executive. After the band broke up, the two founded Wham! and eventually went on to find stardom on the pop charts.
